Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Description

To assist in the day to day organisation of the after school club, providing the children with safe, stimulating play opportunities. This post is for 16.5 hrs afterschool and variable hours within school holidays and in-service days.

Main Duties

Taking part in the day to day administration and record keeping

Providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities, preparing activities, organising the programme

Collecting children from school and delivering them safely to the club

Administering first aid or medication as appropriate

Encouraging parental involvement and support

Close liaison with parents, schools and other after school and play related agencies

Attend meetings as appropriate

Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework

Working within agreed policies

Training as required both for club and SSSC registration

Following the Scottish Government advise and guidance surrounding COVID 19

Any other duties as deemed necessary for the club and on behalf of the Management Committee

Required experience:

  • SVQ 3 or equivalent: 1 year experience.

Essential Criteria

SVQ 3 Children and young people or equivalent

First Aid Certificate

An understanding of good quality after school care

A commitment to equal opportunities

Ability to provide safe, creative play

Ability to communicate at all levels

Experience with working with 4 – 14 year olds

Ability to meet children’s individual needs

Ability to use judgement and common sense

Ability to work as part of a team

PVG

SSSC registration (or within 4 weeks of commencing employment )

Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable Criteria

Moving and Handling training

Food hygiene
