Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Title: Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Reports to: QS’s and Commercial Director

Division: Anwyl Homes Lancashire

Department: Commercial

Location: Head Office,Lancashire

Scope: The Trainee Quantity Surveyor will assist with all Commercial aspects of house building including assisting with management of costs, control of subcontractors and liaising with internal and external stakeholders by assisting with their needs and addressing their concerns through clear communication, organisation skills, professional attitude and to agreed timescales

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with processing subcontractor payments;
  • Undertake regular site visits to value subcontractors payments;
  • Measurements and valuations of works in accordance with the various standard measurement methods;
  • Assist in the production of CVR’s
  • Assist the QS’s with cost planning and delivery of on-going projects;
  • Attend subcontractors’ meetings as and when required and ensure accurate minute taking;
  • Arrange and attend pre-start meetings;
  • Assemble Tender lists and enquiry documents
  • Assist with the prequalification of new subcontractors
  • Assist with subcontractor relationships
  • Assist with evaluation and analysis of the tenders received;
  • Undertaking take offs and production of the bills of quantities to be sent out for subcontractor enquiries;
  • Follow up on sent sub-contracts ensuring their return within specified timescales;
  • Liaise with the Community Benefits Coordinator to monitor and ensure all targets are met and information from subcontractors is provided in a timely manner;
  • Support the Commercial department with various administrative tasks.
