Role Overview & Responsibilities

ELAB ,Based in East Sussex, specialises in the testing of air/gas, soil, water and leachate samples, and also provide on-site environmental monitoring services and environmental monitoring equipment hire. Our services also include inorganics and organics analysis, Geotechnical chemical testing, metals analysis, as well as asbestos identification, waste characterisation testing and waste acceptance criteria (WAC).

ELAB are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician on a part time fixed term basis based on their site in Southampton.

£20,319 per annum pro rata

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for sample preparation and everyday laboratory tasks. You will work closely with the team of Technicians and report to Laboratory Team Leaders.

Role and responsibilities:

• Routine sample preparation and analysis.
• Calibration and operation of analytical equipment.
• Maintaining stocks of reagents and equipment.
• Comply with company ways of working, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain safe, compliant, and effective working standards.
• Understand and utilise the structural reporting lines - they are there to support you.
• Report problems in the lab effectively and promptly.

Skills Qualifications and Experience:

· Enthusiasm, energy, punctuality.

· Must be able to work effectively and collaborate with other members of the team.

· Must be able to effectively articulate (verbally and in writing) to technical and non- technical personnel.

· Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks with high attention to detail.

· Highly organised and excellent time management skills

· No previous lab experience necessary.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary contract
Part-time hours: 15 per week
