Furnace Operator

Role Overview & Responsibilities

Cogent Staffing are recruiting for an experienced Furnace Operator for our Leeds based client. It is essential you have experience in a similar role with transferrable skills and evidence of time spent in said role and can commit to the shift availability below:

Salary/shift:

• Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 Friday 08:00-16:00 (core hours)
• £11.20 per hour standard pay rate with higher pay once trained
• 12 hour shifts required during peak periods
• Weekend work, 12 hour shifts and night shifts required during peak periods
• Overtime paid on all hours over 39 per week
• Weekly pay
• Temporary to permanent opportunity

The role:

• To support the Furnace Supervisor in the running and checking of the furnaces
• Able to work shifts and weekends when required
• Start up and shut down furnace
• Monitor and adjust furnace control panel as and when required
• Observe performance of cyclone, vacuums and millers
• Deal with any production faults, i.e. blocked cyclone, loss of vacuum, etc.
• Change miller screens and clean out vacuums
• Monitor QA readings and ensure that these marry up with the set running levels for the type of product required
• Communicate & liaise with R & D engineers & management
• Training of QA role and basic furnace operation duties to staff
• Ensure production targets are reached & record average stats and totals produced
• General fault finding and troubleshooting while furnace is running

The candidate:

• Proficient numeracy and literacy skills
• Can read, write and speak English
• Proficient computer skills to operate Excel, internal software for logging data
• Has a keen eye for detail and can work in an accurate, timely fashion
• Has a basic understanding of electrical systems
