Role Overview & Responsibilities

Research within the Centre for Health & Life Sciences (CHLS) reflects a broad range of biological sciences to understand life from the level of molecules through to the whole body. The Centre has considerable expertise, ranging from microbiology, cell biology, genomic and molecular biology, biochemistry, nutrition, safety pharmacology and translational physiology.


As part of our research strategy the Centre is looking to appoint a Senior Technician to provide support and liaise with, on a daily basis, a large team of academic researchers and postgraduate students working in the field of Biosciences related areas. This role will form part of a wider team responsible for leading on all health & safety aspects within the research laboratories and monitoring and ordering materials. There is also an emphasis on sustainability within our research Labs and the successful candidate would play a key role in developing that area.


We are looking for an individual who has extensive experience of working in a biological science research laboratory. Specialist experience of microbiology or molecular biology would be an advantage. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be self motivated, organised and confident in working independently and as part of a team.
