Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Essex & Kent group holds three companies: E&K Electrical Services, E&K Building Services and JSP Plumbing and Heating Services. As a result of continued growth over the past six years, we are looking for a Trainee Surveyor to work across our group of companies to help consolidate on the current work streams and potential work streams we are seeking to secure.

The candidate would be working towards a degree/qualification in Quantity Surveying or a similar discipline. The role will evolve with the candidate and hopefully build upon the expertise and skills learned in job and on the degree qualification they are undertaking. A willingness to learn and be flexible is key to working for us. Internal CPD is provided to allow the prospective candidate to learn on the job. We will also cover all external training costs.

Main job particulars include (but not exhausted to):

• Prepare Take offs, tender and contract documents, including bills of quants.
• Measuring drawings.
• Preparing Applications.
• Review material requirements and placing orders as per site request.
• Monitor costs to ensure budgets are met.
• Visiting sites when required.
• Producing cost reports on projects.
• Assisting Contracts Managers with daily task when needed.
• Helping with admin task when needed.
• Dealing with subcontractor payments.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Halstead: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

• A-Level or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

• surveying: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Driving Licence (preferred)
