Role Overview & Responsibilities

Get to Know Animals is opening in Epping, Essex in February 2022 and we are looking to hire permanent staff members on either a full time or part time basis as there are 10 vacancies in total. Our aim is to help people truly get to know the beauty and wonder of some of the incredible animals on our Earth, through sharing our deep love and respect for all creatures great and small. We deliver this in a fun, educational and very hands-on, fully interactive manner, like nothing you have seen before! Our main priority at GTKA is the welfare of our animals, that are all rescued or rehomed and the conservation of the wild animals in our surrounding Epping Forest.

We are now opening up applications to come and join our team of zoo Rangers and animal handlers to care for the 400+ animals that are on site. These include furries, reptiles, insects, fish and two beautiful spider monkeys.

PLEASE NOTE: At this stage, we can only accept applications from previously experienced zoo keepers (or other animal care professionals, we cannot take trainees or offer work experience placements)

*This role also requires a driver with their own transport*

Your role will involve:

*Cleaning and maintenance of enclosures and the zoo as a whole
*feeding and regular health checks of animals
*Dealing with visitors to the zoo, providing information, delivering educational presentations, performing animal handling experiences *Manning reception/ Gift shop if necessary
*Using the in house system to document all works completed or necessary notes
*other advocate duties as required

Salary is negotiable depending upon experience.
