Role Overview & Responsibilities

With more than 1, 000 arriving and departing flights on a normal day, the Airport Operations team work s with customers and suppliers to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of th e airfield and aircraft . Whether your role is to improve process efficiency, monitor aircraft movements or oversee safety measures, you’ll be vital to the continuing smooth running of our airport.

As an Aircraft Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airport. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of aircraft operations, from arrival and departure procedures to ground handling services.


  • Leading the team to deliver a safe and efficient daily Aircraft Operation through the achievement and maintenance of Heathrow and EASA standards.
  • Managing the shift working Aircraft Operations Team of circa 30 colleague providing guidance and training.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our aircraft operations here at Heathrow and work closely and collaboratively with airlines and NATS.
  • Ensure Aircraft Operations is working as one within our Airport Operations Control Centre and lead NATS, Met office and Aircraft operations unit staff to success.


  • A valid UK driving licence.
  • Demonstratable leadership and influencing skills to ensure stakeholders deliver outcomes that meet Airside regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Evidence of good analytical and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of airside and aircraft ground and flight operations, and in particular aerodrome licensing and safeguarding activities.

Working Location

Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
