Role Overview & Responsibilities

Assistant Buyer (Indirects / GNFR), Hull. Salary is circa £25,000 - £26,000 plus excellent benefits including pension, 30 days holiday (plus option to purchase additional days), discount across Heron and B&M, Employee Assistance Programme, BenefitHub etc.

The Role

Reporting into the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the procurement of GNFR (Goods Not For Resale) goods and services, including but not limited to company cars, utilities, cleaning, consumables, PPE, uniform, vending etc.


Key Responsibilities & Duties :

  • Taking direct responsibility for several categories and providing a supporting role for others.
  • Drafting RFQs and RFPs.
  • Receiving proposals, analysing and summarising.
  • Negotiating with suppliers within your own portfolio.
  • Identify savings and efficiency opportunities.
  • Providing sourcing recommendations to the Procurement Manager.
  • Working with other key stakeholders.
  • Managing suppliers and improving performance levels when necessary.


What we are looking for:

  • You will ideally have similar experience within Buying, Purchasing or Procurement.
  • A good understanding of the procurement process.
  • Strong analytical and organisation skills.
  • You will ideally possess commercial acumen and will have previous experience of negotiation.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
  • Work on own initiative and see opportunities for cost savings.
  • Be able to work with key stakeholders and understand their needs.
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office especially Excel.
