Home Office Intelligence brings together a number of existing teams involved in the collection and analysis of border and immigration related intelligence. It delivers Intelligence Collection, Development, Analysis, Targeting (Data Analytics) and Watchlisting capabilities within the Home Office and to its partners across Government and Law Enforcement.

Home Office Intelligence provides a national capability to co-ordinate and analyse data, information and intelligence to inform frontline activity and drive improved operational performance across Border Force. It incorporates national intelligence and targeting functions including the National Border Targeting Centre.

The National Container Hub at Felixstowe, is responsible nationally, for the collection, improvement and dissemination of all information and intelligence relating to containerised freight. The Container Hub works with partner agencies across Law Enforcement to capture intelligence to enable the interdiction of illicit shipments utilising containerised freight by serious organised crime groups and to protect National Security.

As a Targeting Officer, you will be part of a team developing relationships with frontline Border Force and those partner agencies, to increase the lawful and secure flow of information, regionally, nationally and internationally and producing high-quality, high-risk targets and intelligence products both for frontline examination and international disruption.

Essential Criteria

  • An ability to interpret and analyse data to identify trends and anomalies
  • A calm and considered approach when dealing with conflicting time critical priorities
  • Excellent communication and people skills to work across agencies and form relationships with partners
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills and the ability to analyse large data sets

This post is being advertised on the Home Office annualised hours working terms and conditions and attracts an Annual Hours Allowance (AHA) which is currently between 27.1% and 28.6%. This is an additional percentage paid monthly on top of base salary.

This team operates 365 days a year, so the successful candidate(s) will be required to work shifts, including unsociable hours, weekends and bank holidays.
