REFRESHMENTS WORKER (Job Description)

(Part-time position 30.5 Hours a week)

Main Purpose of the Role:

The main responsibility will be to deliver an efficient refreshments service Monday – Sunday in the Prison Visits Room.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Refreshments Service

  • Serving in the Visits Tea & Coffee Bar
  • Work with prisoners to deliver the tea bar service
  • Ensuring that the T&C Bar is ready for service at all times (e.g. appropriately stocked, clean and tidy etc.).
  • Responsible for ensuring that hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained according to Jigsaw’s procedures.
  • Operating a computerised till effectively and cashing-up at the end of each Visits session.

· Liaising with the Jigsaw Director to ensure that all Environmental Health and Food Hygiene regulations are adhered to.

· Preparing timely Order Requests for any external suppliers (e.g. suppliers of hot food etc.)

· Ensuring timely and accurate product price changes to maximise income.

· Recommending variations in products for sale to the Jigsaw Director and costing out options.

· Transporting stock from the stores areas to the tea bar provision within the visit room

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Ensuring that all personal activity is recorded and analysed on a monthly basis and fed into the Finance Officer.
  • As part of the team, reviewing performance statistics and working together to improve Best Practices etc.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attending Staff Meetings and Away Days as necessary.
  • Complying with Visitor Centre policies – e.g. Health & Safety, Child Protection, Equal Opportunities – and also Prison protocols on confidentiality and security.
  • Working collaboratively with other Visitors Centre staff and with volunteers, Prison staff and partner organisations.
  • Carrying out any other duties which are deemed reasonable and consistent with this post.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30.5 per week

Salary: £17,152.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekend availability
