Role Overview & Responsibilities

Description

This high growth industrial manufacturing organisation with a significant presence in the UK are seeking a dynamic Transport Controller to ensure that all of the transport operation operates smoothly on a daily basis while constantly maintaining exceptional service within agreed budget parameters. You will coordinate the supply chain and deliveries for a small fleet of trucks for the timely delivery of customer orders working with the Site Manager and production teams.

Responsibilities
  • From route planning to maintenance scheduling you will take full ownership of the full logistics function for the site working closely with the Site Manager with a hands on approach.
  • Responsible for delivery on time in full to meet customer timescales.
  • Coordinate all driver activities and ensure all vehicles are loading and unloading as required.
  • Find optimal solutions for transport and communicate solutions to the clients and the team.
  • Ensuring company compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures as required by legislation.
  • Develop and introduce practical planning solutions to ensure maximum fleet and driver utilisation whilst controlling costs.
  • Effective liaison with the Production, Warehouse and Yard Logistics.
  • Ensure drivers receive a full debrief, including tacho analysis.
  • Identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunities.
  • Ensuring team operates in accordance with current legislation.
  • Provide direction, execution and coordination of all distribution matters.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are maintained and servicing as per agreed schedules.
  • Drive a culture of Health and Safety First throughout the site and introduce a workplace transport safety plan.
  • Implementation of schedules, objectives and policy by effective collaboration with all departments and colleagues.
  • All operational reporting detailing financials, performance, KPIs, incidents and accidents
  • Have a good understanding of the end to end operation and apply this throughout the life cycle of the depot.
Job Benefits

  • Experience in transport planning, scheduling and progressing of workloads.
  • Hold a national CPC as a minimum qualification.
  • Full working knowledge of the Operator License undertakings.
  • Knowledge of quality Health and Safety management systems.
  • Commercial awareness of transport budgets and financial KPI’s.
  • Highly organised, efficient & approachable individual to integrate into existing company culture.
  • Self motivated with high levels of organisational skills ensuring varying workloads & business priorities are delivered.
