Role Overview & Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for career progression as an apprentice Lab Tech. This role consists of various routine laboratory operations.


What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Use analytical techniques and instrumentation, such as: Ion chromatography / Spectroscopy (infrared and ultraviolet, amongst others)
  • Interpreting data and adhering to strict guidelines on documentation when recording data
  • Reporting scientific results
  • Use a range of analytical techniques, instrumentation and software
  • Develop new techniques for the analysis of drug products and chemicals
  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Laboratory technician level 3 standard.

You will be working towards the Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship at Level 3, which will be supported by both a mentor within the School and your Apprenticeship Assessor.


What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential full time employment.
