Job Description

Title: Librarian

Responsible to: Administrative Manager

Job summary

The Librarian is responsible to provide efficient library support and services to the College community.

Key responsibilities

Day to day running of the library, and have primary responsibility for routine tasks.

the hours of work for this post are 12.30pm to 20.00 Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and10.30 am to 19.00 Saturday

Library routine tasks:

  • Maintaining Library order, security and discipline: shelving books and periodicals, tidying shelves, monitoring the alarm system, supervising the reading rooms and ensuring the library rules are being observed.
  • Assisting in running the automated circulation system. Duties include: input and maintenance of reader records, book reservations, assisting with procedures relating to overdue items.
  • Dealing with routine enquiries from readers in person and via telephone and email, and to deal with general library post.
  • Assisting with acquisitions: accessioning books and periodicals, book orders, book processing and labelling; in-house repairs.
  • Assisting readers with using the copier/printer/scanner and maintenance of paper stocks, clearing jams etc.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of books, pamphlets, periodicals, and audiovisual materials by checking prices, figuring costs, and preparing appropriate order forms.
  • Send out notices and accept fine payments for lost or overdue books.
  • Assisting with the VLE access/services to the students.
  • Assisting with any other library projects as directed by the line manager.
  • Take part in professional development activities and share and reflect on learning.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From Β£23,400.00 per year

  • London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
