Role Overview & Responsibilities

BI Data Developer/Engineer.


Business Intelligence / SQL / Azure SQL data warehousing / Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL DB / ETL / ELT / Data Lake / Kimball data modelling / Azure DevOps


The Data engineers will build and deliver the components of an effective Analytics platform; leveraging data warehouse storage, utilising Azure Data Factory for data integration and Power BI for end-user data analytics and reporting.


This role will play a critical part in the architectural design and implementation of these elements - capable of meeting a wide range of reporting/analytics needs. This role will encompass a mix of hands-on technical development and strategy development; supporting the faculty to continue its journey to develop its analytics platform on next-generation technology.


Skills needed

  • SQL Data Warehousing
  • Experience of cloud architectures and solutions, especially Azure ADF
  • Azure Data Factory with experience building and debugging pipelines.
  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Azure Data Lake

What you will be doing:

  • Work in an agile, proactive manner delivering high-quality solutions in agreed timescales.
  • Design and develop ETL/ELT processes, data warehouse database architecture, Tabular Model, reports and dashboards; in-line with company reporting strategy and best practise.
  • Design and develop models and databases both relational and dimensional to support reporting requirements.
  • Assist in developing standards for data warehouse, data ingestion, data access layers and BI solutions
  • Help mentor, steer and supervise your team from a technical standpoint while influencing technical direction
  • Ensure the University maintains a low technical debt & identify an area for automation (CI/CD pipelines) and continuous improvement
