Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Overview

  • To assist People with Reduced mobility throughout their airport journey
  • Driving of Ambulift hi-lift vehicles airside at Birmingham International Airport
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development

Main Duties

  • To ensure that each vehicle is checked before use, and defects documented as per internal process
  • To organise the most efficient and effective way of transporting several PRM's (plus one of their companions) to the various aircraft, ensuring on time departures
  • To correctly use a PDA ensuring compliance with time stamping
  • To co-ordinate the boarding / disembarkation of PRM's onto / off the aircraft from your vehicle or airbridge, liaising with the aircraft dispatcher and cabin crew to ensure smooth passage
  • Overall responsibility for the use of all aspects of the Ambilift vehicle including the tail lift and front platform and their controls
  • Driving of minibus and terminal buggies when required
  • Marshalling of vehicles
  • To report all Accidents / Near Misses
  • To keep the vehicles, clean and tidy of FOD

Security and Health & Safety

  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client
  • To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents

What we are looking for

  • Previous HGV or Hi-lift vehicle driving advantageous
  • Airport airside driving experience preferable but not essential
  • Clean DVLA Driving Licence
  • NVQ Level 2 / GCSE
  • 5 year checkable work History
  • The role will require you to pass a basic Criminal Record Check / Medical
