Role Overview & Responsibilities
Our Pen Pal service allows volunteers and registered carers to post hand-written letters between each other. Our trained Pen Pal volunteers are matched with a registered carer who exchange letters with one another on a regular basis, some matched write weekly, however our expectation is to write monthly. This service provides support for carers at a time of loneliness as they may be spending a lot of time caring for a loved one, or it could simply provide a much-needed boost to their wellbeing. You are free to write about whatever you feel is appropriate (weather, TV, events, poetry, books, sport, etc.) and full training is provided.

Hours
This is a flexible volunteering role, as letters can be written at any time to suit the volunteer. Approximately 1-4 hours per month, depending on length of letters and number of matched Carers.
Location
This volunteering role can be performed from home, however, you would need to be able to commute to one of our following locality areas, for an initial meeting and onboarding - Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside or Staffordshire.
Other
This is a voluntary role, and there are no costs incurred to volunteer.
PenPal volunteers receive a stationery pack upon completion of training, containing writing paper, freepost envelopes and a pen. Stocks will be replenished as and when required.
