Biomedical Scientist (Band 5)

As a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist, you will be trained in all areas of Clinical Biochemistry: Automation, Biochemical Genetics, Newborn Screening and Toxicology.

The department is housed in a modern, purpose-built laboratory and the successful candidate will be joining a busy, friendly team. We currently have Beckman general chemistry and immunoassay analysers in our Automated Laboratory that will be linked to a DxA track later this year.

The Special and Manual Technique Labs have an array of state of the art equipment to provide our service.

There will be exciting changes in the department in the next couple of years. We are in the process of implementing new pieces of equipment for the new Managed Equipment Service.

The Blood Sciences laboratories have accreditation by UKAS under ISO 15189, and are currently in the process of extending that scope to include the newer equipment, and MHRA. We are approved by the IBMS as a training laboratory for both the registration portfolio, leading to HCPC registration and specialist portfolios.

Severn Pathology's aim is to provide a best in class, high quality, innovative, value for money pathology service that serves the needs of the healthcare market in the South West region. The laboratory facilities accommodate all pathology disciplines including the Blood Sciences, Bristol Genetics Laboratory, a single Bristol Cellular Pathology Service and a combined Microbiology and Health Protection Agency service within one facility.
