Role Overview & Responsibilities

The palliative care unit at North Tyneside General Hospital are seeking to recruit two part time healthcare assistants to join our lovely team.

Posts are permanent and the successful candidates will be rotational to include day & night shift duties. The posts are 24 & 30 hours.

The palliative care unit has 19 beds and we care for patients with a range of palliative conditions, focusing on symptom control, psychological support and for patients at the end of their life.

The successful candidates will have a passion for delivering high standards of patient centered care and will support the qualified staff to deliver this.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, be friendly, reliable, good team player and can also work well independently.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

To support the qualified staff to provide high standards of care

To support patients with continence care, personal hygiene, nutrition and hydration support, pressure area care, physiological observations, falls prevention, psychological support for end of life patients and their families.
