Role Overview & Responsibilities

Porta Salford now recruiting for General Manager.

We are on the hunt for an experienced FOH professional to lead our Chapel Street tapas bar.

Located on Bexley Square (5 minutes walk from Spinningfields), Porta is busy but fun place to work. Our business continues to grow and we need YOU to help us maintain our high standards and push the business forward.

The area around Chapel Street has been part of a significant regeneration in recent years and is now a thriving part of the Manchester-Salford border.

You’ll be working alongside our fantastic, established FOH team and amazing chefs who are using the very best Spanish and English ingredients in a completely un-pretentious environment.

The successful candidate will be a natural leader, be super-organised and be at their best interacting with guests. Proven experience running a similarly busy restaurant would be an advantage. You must be a ‘people person’ who enjoys building relationships, inspiring and motivating a happy team.

A normal working week would be 42 hours.

Porta is a group of 3 restaurants (Chester, Altrincham & Salford) owned and managed by Ben and Joe Wright. Our company is large enough that you will enjoy some autonomy and decision-making responsibility, but also small enough that you will work very closely with the owners and Operations Manager to manage the business.

A knowledge of Spanish cuisine is an advantage but not essential – extensive training will be provided.

Our menu covers many tapas bar classics and is focused on top quality ingredients. Every item is handmade in-house.

Our aim is for Porta to be one of the best informal restaurants in the UK. Our first restaurant (Joseph Benjamin, Chester) held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 13 years and we hold this as an ambition for Porta.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £33,000.00 per year
