Role Overview & Responsibilities

About the Role

Bridgewater Surgeries, in Watford, are looking for an administrator to join our busy practice support team and help make a positive impact to our local community. You will work 15 hours across three days.
The main purpose of the role is to provide administrative support and services to all members of the Practice team.
Job responsibilities:
  • Emails - Monitor main surgery email and deal with all incoming emails.
  • Registrations and deductions - Ensure procedures for registering new or temporary registrations are completed
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new and temporary patients
  • Process patient deductions as appropriate
  • Patient Records - Deal with GP Links including the amendment and deduction of patient records
  • Process electronic discharge summaries and out of hours notifications
  • Monitor incoming electronic test results to ensure prompt review by clinicians.
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information e.g. smoking status, BP, medication and past medical history.
  • Ensuring appropriate patient records are kept up to date, including but not limited to: Cytology, pathology results, bowel and breath screening, private medical/insurance/solicitors’ reports etc
  • Allocate work to appropriate clinical staff in accordance with practice procedures.
  • Liaise with external organisations regarding requests for information
  • Liaise with patients as necessary
  • Keep accurate and timely records
  • Scanning - Scan patient information into computerised record i.e. medical documents, hospital reports and letters as necessary

  • Adaptable and friendly with strong administration, time management and organisational skills.

  • Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain high level of attention to detail when under pressure.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
