Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are looking for a Laundry Assistant to join our existing team at Primrose Croft Care Home in Cambridge. You will be part of a supportive and welcoming team providing physical, emotional, and social support to our residents. You will make a difference every day by engaging in meaningful activities with residents as well as promoting independence, choice, dignity and respect at all times. Delivering great care is central to everything we do.

Excelcare is a family-owned care home group established for over 32 years. We provide support to older people with a range of needs including dementia, physical disabilities and mental health issues. Salary & Shifts:

£10.90 per hour

35 hours a week between Monday – Sunday. You will be required to work alternate weekends.

Key duties are:

  • To manage the laundry procedures and put through required laundry, therefore preventing unnecessary build-up.
  • To ensure that bundles of laundry are identified for the staff to load and unload into the washers and dryers.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the laundry equipment and the daily de-fluffing of the dryers, reporting any defects to the Head of Home.
  • To distribute clothes to clients’ rooms and ensure the correct marking of clients’ clothes.
  • To manage the laundry throughout under Health and Safety best practices, paying special attention to cross-infection.
  • To identify and report and areas of malfunction or damage to equipment, in accordance with the company’s Maintenance reporting procedure.
  • To maintain the general cleanliness of the laundry, through identified and agreed work schedules.
  • To adhere to and maintain the company’s policies and procedures.
