HR Assistant
Role Overview & Responsibilities
Are you looking to step into a career in HR? We are looking for an aspiring HR professional to join a large, fast paced school in Newcastle. This is a brand new role, introduced to support the Senior Leadership Team with day-to-day administrative duties.
Salary: £21500-£22500
Hours: Full time – 8am to 4pm – can be flexible with start and finish times – 37 hours per week – Office based
Term time can be considered
Contract Type: 12 month FTC
Immediate start available.
The role:
- Work in collaboration with Senior Leadership Team / Recruitment Manager and central team to advertise all school vacancies, prepare applications for shortlisting, preparation of shortlisting grids, application packs, social media checks etc
- Responsible onboarding process, (i.e completion of documentation, enhanced DBS checks, statement of particulars) employee record and vetting checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines.
- Complete all notifications to payroll and co-ordinate overtime, leave of absence requests, changes to employee records etc by specified deadlines.
- Develop and maintain office systems, employee records and collect, compile and present data both manually and electronically in order to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee records and produce regular reports.
- Be a point of contact for all employees within the school in relation to payroll queries
- Liaise with payroll provider and occupational health providers including raising and responding to queries
- Book staff training and ensure records are kept up-to-date
- Responsible for the completion of statutory returns in relation to staffing i.e Staff workforce return
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents and pupils – both in person and on the telephone.
- Assist the school to plan events including parents evening, open evenings, etc
- Responsible for a range of procurement processes including placing orders, goods receipts and liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, deliveries, queries and other issues.
Skills & Qualifications:
- CIPD preferred but not essential
- 2 years in an administrative position
- Experience working in an educational or regulated environment as this role will include processing DBS checks/Right to work/qualification checks etc
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
