Job Specification
Legal Assistant – Criminal Department
Hours – 8.30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday
Salary – Dependant upon experience – to be discussed at interview
Key responsibilities & duties:
- Representing the Company by attending Crown Court hearings
- Meeting and assisting barristers and KCs in conferences and court hearings.
- Speaking with CPS lawyers to discuss cases.
- Taking instructions from clients, whether that to assist their defence or assist with mitigation.
- Being able to task matters and effectively work within deadlines.
- Experienced in audio dictation transcription.
- Assisting the fee earners with their administrative requirements in preparation for court hearings
- Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
- Arrange conferences, meetings.
- Complete forms in accordance with company procedures.
- Compose, type, and distribute meeting notes, routine correspondence, and reports.
- Maintain scheduling and event calendars.
- Make copies of correspondence and other printed material.
- Prepare answers to routine letters.
- Schedule and confirm appointments for clients and staff.
- Maintain electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other material.
- Deal with billing of files
- Conduct searches to find needed information, using such sources as the Internet.
- Learn to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
- Operate email systems
- Ensure that company format policies are followed,
- Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems, and use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications.
- Arrange Legal Visits/Video Links with appropriate Prisons to speak with the client.
- Knowledge of Case Management System Proclaim.
- Will be trained to attend police stations in accordance PACE.
- To assist with general administration
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £21,000.00 per year
