Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job description

Autism Advisory Teacher - Part-Time (2 days per week)

We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced, qualified teacher looking for a new challenge. You are invited to apply to join our dedicated team of Teachers and Teaching Assistants, working successfully throughout Sheffield to support educational settings with the inclusion of children aged 0-25 years with social communication needs and/or a diagnosis of autism.

You will preferably have recent experience supporting children in Early years, Primary and Secondary settings or within an Educational Advisory Service. You will also need a thorough knowledge and experience of implementing the SEND Code of Practice. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work to deadlines and work well within a team. Additional qualifications in SEND/Autism would be desirable.

You will work in partnership with a locality of set schools and collaboratively with a range of professionals to support the environment, approaches and adult role by offering training opportunities or planning interventions for children with autism. You will provide specialist knowledge and practice linked to meeting need in addition to statutory duties linked to the SEND Code of Practice.

This part-time, permanent post is term time only and subject to teachers pay and conditions.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly. It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
