Role Overview & Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting in the day to day running of the SVP shop, maintaining standards and achieving sales through effective sales techniques and contributing to the sustainable profitability of the shop.

Assist with adequate levels of stock, merchandising, pricing and deliveries.

Set and maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness throughout the shop

Strictly apply all policies, procedures and standards and ensure they are maintained

To ensure customer service is of the highest standard and deal with customer complaints efficiently and according to the Customer Service Policy

To ensure Health and Safety Policy is strictly adhered to, Risk Assessments are carried out and that all staff are provided with information on H&S issues

Complete paperwork

Implement and control adequate security systems for the protection of staff, stock and cash

Report any problems or staff/volunteer misconduct immediately

Carry out stocktaking where necessary and report results

The ideal candidate will possess the following;

1. Holds five GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C or above.

2. Proven experience in stock control.

3. Proven experience in customer service delivery.

4. Proven experience in financial matters, including cash reconciliation.

5. Proficient in IT – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

6. Flexible ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to adapt to change and interact with people.

Desirable Criteria

1. Experience working in retail within the charity sector.

Skills to be tested at interview stage

Excellent organisation skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

An ability to work well under pressure, resilient.

An ability to display empathy, patience and a well-developed sense of humour.

Ability to be flexible in approach and towards the role.

6. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
