Role Overview & Responsibilities

Swansea is Wales’ second largest coastal city offering a superb work-life balance and a rich cultural environment, which is ideal for family life. The city is the gateway to the Gower Peninsula, designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. Walking, fishing, surfing, canoeing and sailing flourish in the area and walkers/ ramblers are spoilt for choice. The magnificent “Worms Head” snaking out to sea is one of the finest views in the world; yet you have all the facilities of urban life at hand. Excellent state and independent schools are available.

This is an exciting time to join our neonatal team following the opening of a new state of the art Transitional Care and Special Care unit, freeing up space for further expansion of critical care capacity. The newly refurbished unit has excellent facilities and has one of the best family accommodations in Wales. We nurture a very pleasant working environment and are passionate about providing the highest standard of care. The unit has excellent benchmarked outcomes and is recognised for high quality innovative practices on antibiotic stewardship, family integrated care, neurodevelopmental follow up programme and predictive heart rate monitoring. The unit was the recipient of the 2017 NHS Wales Award for ‘Improving Quality Together’ methodology and was the only UK unit to be invited to showcase practices at the VON Annual Quality Congress in 2017.
