Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Crown Hastings is an award winning freehouse situated in the heart of Hastings Old Town. Serving a full menu of home-cooked, seasonal food with local ingredients. .

We are looking for a chef to join our team, but we are flexible with the amount of previous experience. The role can be either full or part time with flexible contracted hours. Our kitchen is open 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day), and we serve food from noon until 9.30pm. The position therefore includes evenings and weekends.

Duties include plating up, cooking, prep, dessert making, bread making, butchery, fish prep, making sauces and much more - everything in our kitchen is made from scratch using high-quality ingredients. We have recently started a kitchen garden where chefs will have the opportunity to grow their own produce. Candidate must be friendly, positive and happy to learn, willing to work in a fast-paced but professional environment, with a team of chefs including chef-owner Andrew Swan.

This is a great opportunity for someone inexperienced to learn their trade, or for an experienced chef to learn new skills and progress within the team here. Salary/hourly rate dependent on previous experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
Part-time hours: 40 per week

Salary: £8.00-£14.00 per hour
