Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Role:

Cedar Underwriting are looking for a Technical Underwriter with experience in the Commercial Insurance market.

Cedar Underwriting is part of the wider Stubben Edge Group, who are an exciting fintech company, on a mission to disrupt the financial services industry with its innovative tech and platform. Cedar act as the group MGA as well as offering Delegated Authorities to intermediaries outside of the Stubben Edge platform.

They are specialists in manual underwriting of Commercial Combined products in line with delegated authority guides. In addition to combined, there is an element of manual and referral underwriting to carried out for property owners, contractors’ liability, excess of loss and other commercial contracts. Cedar also handles referrals that fall outside of our cover holders’ authority.

Key Objectives:

  • Main telephone/Email Referral point of contact for all cover holders on individual cases outside of their authority & via the Stubben Edge Platform
  • Manage manual quotations, MTAs, and Renewals from Direct Brokers, including the Stubben Edge Platform
  • Support the Underwriting Team with developing new scheme wordings, Key Facts & IPIDs for new & existing products
  • Respond to technical queries using wordings and act as POC for Cover Holders, Brokers & Insurers.
  • Conduct market research to ensure Cedar are competitive in the market
  • Conduct peer reviews with the Underwriting Team
  • Provide monthly reports to the Cover Holders and the Cedar Team.
  • Deliver training presentations to Cover Holders & Direct Brokers.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will be a strong communicator on all levels with the ability to communicate complex issues. Able to manage a team and build strong working relationships, both internally and with our external providers.

  • Demonstratable experience of commercial insurance, markets, and products
  • Experienced at understanding wordings across the Commercial Insurance range
  • Possess a strong understanding of Policy Wordings
  • Analytical with good investigative skills with an understanding of the Delegated Authority process

Location: Brierley Hill

Please note: This role is Hybrid, with a minimum of 2 days per week spent in the office

Hours: Mon- Fri 37.5hrs

Holiday: 25 Days +BH
