Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a part-time weekend horticultural assistant working Friday to Sunday with a seasonal variation in hours, averaging 18.5 per week.

We require a qualified part-time horticulturist who can demonstrate practical skills and experience, relevant to working with a glasshouse/nursery collection. The successful candidate will work with the Glasshouse and Nursery and Experimental teams on a Friday, to ascertain and prioritise work required during the weekend, in particular within the Glasshouse Range. On Saturday and Sunday the role holder will be responsible for carrying out the agreed work and supervise one of seven Trainee Horticultural Technicians, working on a weekend duty rota.

The work and responsibilities will vary throughout the year according to seasonal requirements. The weather will determine the amount of essential watering required at weekends and additional horticultural duties will be allocated to fall back on if time allows. There is a seasonal variation in hours on Saturday and Sunday.

SEE FURTHER PARTICULARS FOR FULL DETAILS, INCLUDING PERSON SPECIFICATION - only applicants who meet the essential experience and qualifications set out in the Person Specification need apply.
