Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Department of Civil Engineering & Industrial Design at the University of Liverpool is embarking on an exciting period of growth of its academic staff base, and we are looking for staff to join us in delivering multidisciplinary world-class civil engineering research in the key areas of net zero, climate crisis, resilience, and future cities, whilst also providing innovative, research-led teaching input to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

We are looking to develop our transportation engineering research group with two new additional appointments at Lecturer and Senior Lecturer level; someone with a passion for innovation in developing transportation solutions that meet pressing environmental challenges. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with expertise in one or more of the following topics: materials and technologies for transportation, sustainability and resilience in transportation systems, transport modelling and logistics, and smart transport.

The successful candidates will be excellent researchers with ambitious future research plans who have an established track record of academic endeavour. This will include papers in internationally leading journals in their field and the potential, or demonstration of the ability, to attract significant funding from a range of sources.

Job applications are particularly welcome from women, ethnic minority and/or marginalised population candidates who are under-represented in academic posts in the School. The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received.
