Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Department of Languages, Cultures & Film wishes to appoint to a permanent Lectureship (Teaching and Research) in World Cinema to join our thriving team. You will have a PhD in Film Studies or a relevant related discipline, and an emerging track-record of producing research and publications of international excellence, as well as evidence of, or potential for, attracting funding from research councils or other external bodies. You should provide clear evidence of your research and teaching experience in World Cinema (understood broadly, i.e. encompassing streaming and other platforms) and be able to demonstrate sensitivity to diverse cultural contexts. We particularly welcome applications from researchers working on areas beyond our existing expertise, either geographically (e.g. Bollywood and Indian cinemas; Nollywood and/or other African cinemas; Japanese cinema; Korean cinema) or in terms of genre and mode/medium (e.g. animation, documentary, screen media, with transcultural and global horizons).
