Conservation Technician

Salary: WY03 £ 21,575 – £21,968 FTE (£12,945 - £13,180 pro-rata)

Hours: Part time (job share)- 22.2 hrs/week

Based at West Yorkshire History Centre, Wakefield

Permanent

The Conservation section has an opportunity for a Conservation Technician. The successful candidate will assist the Head of Conservation and the Conservator in their collections care and conservation activities for West Yorkshire Archive Service collections across all WYAS sites and to external clients.

The Conservation Technician’s duties will include cleaning, environmental monitoring, collection packaging, repair of the Registry of Deeds volumes and indexes. The role will involve significant manual handling, occasional weekend and evening working and the ability to travel to the other WYAS district offices in Morley, Leeds, Kirklees and Bradford. Full training will be given for technical aspects of this role as required.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with archives and a high level of manual dexterity, including a methodical, pragmatic and careful approach. This role forms part of a current job share.
