The Light is coming to Redhill!

Cinema, Bowling, Mini Golf, Climbing, Bars and Dining all under one roof. Our venues are the first to combine exceptional cinema and great quality food and drinks with fun and immersive leisure activities.

The Light are looking for a Senior Chef to lead and develop our food offer and small kitchen team as part of the opening management team. Reporting to the General Manager you will have full accountability for leading the successful delivery of kitchen operations in our venue.
The perfect candidate will have experience managing kitchen teams, and will take every opportunity to lead by example; demonstrating what exceptional service looks like, inspiring others to do the same.
The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with the General Manager so the company vision can be developed and achieved.
  • Use their passion and previous knowledge to implement seasonal specials and create new dishes for the menu.
  • Implement and maintain, HACCP and H&S policies in line with government guidelines.
  • Ensure all food produced is to a high standard.
  • Maintain a high employee retention rate through effective communication, team meetings, training, regular appraisals, monthly 1 to 1's with direct reports and consistent reward, recognition, coaching and mentoring.
  • Be responsible for the sourcing and purchase of items to ensure a good quality product is achieved at all times.
  • Have good control of costs within the kitchen.
  • Implement Rotas so correct staffing levels are achieved.
  • Lead the recruitment, training and development of staff withing the kitchen.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment is working correctly.
  • Maintain a good working environment within the kitchen and other departments.
  • Have a high energy level and pro-active approach to work
  • Be organised, reliable and a proud ambassador of the Light promoting our values.

The person:

  • Experience of working in a high-volume food environment
  • A passion for food and creating dishes
  • A strong leader with excellent communication skills
  • A natural flair for developing and motivating teams
  • Always ensures a high standard of quality and food presentation
  • Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Advanced level Food Safety and Health and Safety qualifications
